Kidney Transplant Recipient Cycles 3,000 Miles For Organ/Blood Donation

Hi!

Just wanted to let you know that I completed the Five Points of Life bike ride successfully -- thanks to the support of people like you!

I rode about 3,000 miles in 7 weeks, and spoke at over 60 events about the need for organ and blood donation. We made local news almost everywhere we went, and even got on the Today Show. Our efforts paid off to the tune of 6,679 whole blood donations, 769 apheresis (plasma and platelet) donations, 1,544 people registered on the national bone marrow registry, and countless people committing to become organ donors and tell their families about their decision. [These figures do not include the final tally for Rhode Island -- those donations were re-counted by hand.] The complete ride diary and photos from the ride are now online at www.transweb.org. Go to the site and click on my picture. Thanks so much to those of you who have supported me on this ride and otherwise in my efforts to raise awareness about the need for organ donation and help kidney patients. Progress is being made, and lives are being saved.

But I have not yet achieved my goal. I still need funding for the dialysis video project. This mentoring video may save the lives of thousands of dialysis patients by giving them a positive outlook on dialysis and showing them how to adhere to the dialysis regimen. For more information about the video project -- and how you can help -- please contact me or visit www.justwkidsvideo.org/dialysis.html.

Thanks again for your support.
